Our Setting

The Early Years Foundation Stage at The Albert Pye Primary School

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. – Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework 2021

At The Albert Pye Primary School we believe that young children are unique individuals who have the right to be motivated, independent and successful learners. We aim to achieve this through a balance of play based and adult directed, active learning, planning rich contexts that connect with children’s interests and supported by highly skilled adults who nurture and facilitate learning.

At The Albert Pye Primary School we have a purpose built Nursery, providing places for 24 children each session which can be accessed the term following their third birthday, during term time. We recognise that each family has individual requirements with regards to early education and provide a flexible offer.  We provide the 15 hours universal entitlement which can be taken across full or half days and 30 hours child care for working families. We have a daily lunch club for up to 16 children that is charged for.

We have 40 Reception places available at The Albert Pye School, organised into one class of 30 Reception children and one mixed age class with 10 Reception and 20 Year 1 children.

All classes have access to a high quality, purpose built, secure outdoor area.
